Prayer Focus: Jan 2021

Returning to our First Love

There is a quickened sense of the urgency of the hour; the beckoning of the Bridegroom for His Bride to be made ready for His coming. The LORD is calling His bride to be donned for the Wedding feast so “that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephesians 5:27)

The parable of the wise and foolish virgins illuminates an important key, that our lamps must be filled with oil. We know that ‘oil’ signifies the Holy Spirit in this parable. O how we need the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, Teacher, and the God-head whose sole pursuit is to reveal the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Church, His Bride draw near to Him and respond to “the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” (Revelations 22:17)

Scriptural Focus

For the Church to return to their first Love.

To be filled and led by the Holy Spirit; for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Matthew 25:13,"Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming."

Like watchmen on the walls keeping our vision on the LORD.

Psalm 86:11,"Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.”

We ask for the fear of the Lord to do a work of sanctification, to give us godly wisdom, and to keep us on the straight and narrow path.

The restoration of God’s temple and city

In the book of Nehemiah, the children of Israel were taken captive to Babylon while the city of Jerusalem laid in ruins. God found a man named Nehemiah, the king’s cupbearer, who would set his heart to rebuild and restore the city of God. Despite being accused of usurping authority and treason, Nehemiah rose in great faith to restore God’s temple and city, where true worship and ministry can once again flow forth from Jerusalem.

Scriptural Focus

Isaiah 42:22, But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, And they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!"

To be people who bear the cry of Nehemiah, to see to the restoration of God’s Kingdom here on earth as it is in heaven! This is especially true when we pray that the God will turn the tide around for the nations who have been deeply affected by COVID-19.

Revelation 5:8, Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

The “Every Creature” mandate began in prayer and intercession and will continue to be so. We will see the redemptive restoration work of God done in the nations. Amen! We believe that as we sow in tears and repentance, the reward of joy will come as the multitudes of souls get swept into the Kingdom of God!

1 Corinthians 3:10-11, According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Through prayer and intercession, be poised to receive the wisdom from above and build according to the blueprint from heaven.
