A Fervent Zeal

Jeremiah Chor
Autumn 2016, The Clarion Call

I was given the book “Intercessor: Rees Howells” by Norman Grubb at the age of 18. Not in my wildest imagination would I think that I would attend the Bible College of Wales (BCW) in the Autumn of September 2016, 29 years later after reading that book.

There were many lessons inked by the Holy Spirit in the BCW that have completely changed the way I think. Old mindsets and wine skins gave way to new ones when a renowned minister mentioned that God lives in community, and that had the greatest impact on me. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit live in close fellowship, intimate partnership and unceasing love towards each other amongst the Godhead. As we bear the image and likeness of God, we are never meant to live in isolation or obscurity!

We too belong to a community and God has shown me what it is like to live in a community here in BCW. We live, we serve, and in the fullness of time, we will be a blessing in that community.

Another thing that really struck me was having a fervent zeal for God once again – and how I yearn to see a revival, even if it means to travail in intercession and be on my knees, asking and seeking God for a fresh new wind of change.

Five months after graduating from BCW, I was humbled when Cornerstone Community Church Singapore sent me to Cornerstone Community Church Miri in Sarawak, East Malaysia to assist with the growing work there. Since arriving in Miri from April 2017, I have been involved with the community in Miri. I have also been given the privilege to teach a baptism class and Christianity to new believers whom the Lord has added to the church.

Each week, I participate in a weekly cell group and the Youth Service and this has allowed me to fall in love with people all over again. In addition to that, Miri is in close proximity to Bario. Located 3,500 feet above sea level in north-eastern Sarawak in Malaysia, Bario was once a hub for supernatural activities when the Holy Spirit visited her powerfully in 1973, also known to many locals as the “Bario Revival”. It is my desire that the Lord will visit Malaysia once again, so we too, will witness revival. So come Holy Spirit, come!
